Love will always be Close To You.
Happiness sometimes as close as can be.
Family and friends are as close as you'll ever get.
Strangers are foreigners from far away.
They're aliens from a distant planet.
Some are even from another galaxy in your own little universe.
But as close as love will always be, as close is life.
And trailing after life comes pain as a never avoidable risk.
In that way pain and sorrow will always be a part of you.
Strangers feel sorrow and pain as well. You're equals.
And as close as you are to the people you loved,
as close are the strangers to the ones they treasured the most.
And in that way everything adds up.
In that way everything's Close To You.
On our way down from the northern part of Denmark my dad told my mom and me a story about a taxi driver.
The driver's wife took another cap and asked to be let off at Ejby train station. The other driver did as she pleased and dropped her off, but when the train came she jumped right out in front of it. Suicide.
The driver was devestated and didn't know what else to do but to keep working. Less than a month later a young man asked to be driven to Ejby, which wasn't a problem. But the poor driver got nervous when the young, lively man asked to be dropped off by the train station, so he stayed and watched the young man, planning to let out a sigh of relief when the train left the station carrying the man inside it.
The train finally came, but when it got close enough the young man as well jumped out in front of it, leaving this world for good in the same way as the driver's wife.
I felt so sorry for that man that I almost cried. It was terrible just listening to. And therefore I wrote this small poem above and drew the picture. It didn't take long, and it's not that detailed, but I wanted to somehow express the hope of spreading faith and happiness through art. And to help people realize, that even though horrifying things like the suicide story above happen, as long as you keep the memories of the people who passed away alive, they'll always be close to you.
